July 15th

If anyone's actually read any of this nonsense that I've written on here, you might have gathered that 2009 has been a challenging year so far!

Obviously there's some really great stuff - the arrival of the next generation of Canadian prog rock fans in September (the birth of my child!) is the greatest thing in the world.

Some of the more difficult stuff has been due to the flood we had at home in March. Only now are we getting close to fixing all of those problems that all that water caused.

It has been a busy year, and when something could happen to make it more complicated, that seems to have happened too.

My entries in July's Blog have mainly concentrated on whether I'll actually manage the ride or not this year. The desire to raise some cash for AMR has been countered by my need to get my own home fixed and straight for my new family. Mel's had to put up with living in what's effectively been a building site for close to four months now.

The news today is that I am NOT doing the ride now.

There is too much to do at home and not enough time to do it. Plus we were supposed to have a marathon, all day NCT class last Saturday. At our class last night we had to re-schedule that session, and there are now going to be a few classes over the next couple of weeks, and there is no way that I want to miss those, or even send Mel to those on her own.

So, I'm staying at home, getting things straight, finding out how I'm supposed to support my wife during childbirth, and what I am supposed to do when I am presented with a newborn baby. I think that's probably a good idea.

BUT, YOU CAN STILL HELP.

I still want to do something for AMR this year - to raise some more cash for them. And I still fancy a bit of a challenge.

So, I'll be doing one of their 100 mile rides in August. The York 100 is on August 16th, and your sponsorship and support will be very much appreciated.

THANK YOU
